165Cory

Requests to add machines to 165 Cory should follow the procedure below:

  1. Get an OK from Logan Baldini or Scott McNally by filling out the New Equipment Install Form (ignore the pricing breakdown) and emailing it to Logan.
  2. If you do not yet have card key access to 165, then send Scott your card key number and request access.
  3. Get the power requirements for the machine: typically this is the rated number of watts for the power supply. Some servers have two power supplies.
  4. Visit the machine room and see if you can find some spare ethernet cables that have been run from the rack to the switch, If there are no available ethernet cables, send email to networks@eecs.berkeley.edu.
  5. Once you have received space approval, contact Logan Baldini or Scott McNally for direction on which rack to use. They will need to know the power rating of the device. Not all the racks have sufficient power.
  6. You can then work with networks@eecs.berkeley.edu to obtain a port allocation on the switch.
  7. Once you have the rack number and the port allocation, fill out the IRIS form called Register a Device found on the IRIS Website under 'Common Tasks'.
